ABOUT ME
Instructor in communication disorders in didactic and clinical settings / Pediatric speech-language pathologist with an interest in speech sound disorders, developmental language disorders, and literacy disorders.
Research Interest: Working to improve the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning within clinical education by applying the latest learning science research to the clinical relationship.

EXPERIENCE and INTERESTS
INSTRUCTOR
UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON
I am an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department where I teach the following undergraduate courses: Language Development, Phonetics, Speech Development and Disorders, and Language Disorders. I also teach the following graduate courses: Elective on Written Language Disorders and Clinic Class. I am currently teaching Selected Topics in COMD (Teaching in Higher Ed) in the PhD program.
FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY
I taught post-baccalaureate courses in Normal Development and Clinical Phonetics in the online Bridge Program at Florida State University.
SPEECH@EMERSON
I facilitated graduate courses in Speech Sound Disorders and Clinical Methods and Comprehensive Examination Preparation.
I enjoy teaching learning science research to my students to support their learning in these courses.
CLINICAL EDUCATOR
UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON
I supervise graduate clinicians in their first-year placements at the University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic and have also supervised second-year clinicians in their school placements.
CURTIN UNIVERSITY
I supervised students in their school placements at Curtin University in Western Australia.
I love working with student clinicians and helping them to see the connection between theoretical principles in their coursework to clinical practice. Please see my Teaching Philosophy to see how I implement learning science research into clinical settings.
CLINICIAN
I worked as a pediatric SLP in Kuwait, Australia, and the United States for over 15 years.
I enjoy working with children who fit the Developmental Language Disorder profile and am most interested in the intersection between speech and written language.
